"Pools of sorrow; waves of joy are drifting through my opened mind."
~John Lennon, The Beatles 〚Across the Universe〛
One of the absolute best. That whole song, lyrically, musically, is a masterpiece. For all the shit that Lennon got & gets, he was a damn good writer.
"This ivory leg is what propels me! Harpoons thrust in the sky!"
~Brent Hinds, Mastodon 〚Blood and Thunder〛
Such a powerful delivery with (what my autism makes out to be) insanely cool imagery. Just a stormy sea with a lone man fighting to the death with a whale, lightning striking...
"..So I declare a holiday, fall asleep: drift away."
~Thom Yorke, Radiohead 〚Sulk〛
Something about this line is so ethereal and strikes me deep.
"You could sell yourself for a dime, step on anyone who borrows your time. You could play a victim, to the smoke and mirrors."
~Vinny Vinesauce, Red Vox 〚Burn a Picture〛
The entire song is beautifully haunting, this line stuck with me the most. My favorite detail is that Vin actually wanted the line to be this; the current song has wrong lyrics. He talks about it on this stream. EDIT* I - FOR THE LIFE OF ME - CAN'T FIND THE STREAM. I KNOW IT WASN'T A DREAM BECAUSE I'VE WATCHED IT MORE THAN ONCE. IT'S VINNY TALKING ABOUT THE ALBUM WHILE LOOKING AT PLANETS
