Chapter Sixteen: Living Ghosts

The Bishop proved his loyalty to Iron in spades, defending the Keep from the frequent ogre and troll attacks. Iron watching in awe of the flying warrior's prowess with a blade. The two began talking frequently at night, no mention of the treachery to the Messiah. This night, however, was different. A new visitor was at the door to the keep. A sullen, dreary sight of decaying roots walked to the entrance. Luwarin knew the voice of this unseen figure: Arsirian. While he knew he was the strongest of his people, certainly the entire council of Eyes would be a problem. The figure asked daringly about Luwarin, his whereabouts, his motives... Telling the story of the betrayal. He refuted this to Iron, later that night. For in his mind, he was merely freeing them from being trapped. He saw nothing wrong with his ideas, using his high status to further his motives was only a necessary evil to free his people. While Iron knew anyone who would deceive others for gain did not fit within his kingdom, he sided with Luwarin. He reflected on his disagreements with Nhaulik and Korinthine, scorning himself night and day for not trying harder. This made Luwarin a favorable person to Iron; a true pioneer that would do his all to achieve a goal...
